Thomas Norrby, Senior Specialist Technical Manager - Lubricants, Naphthenics TechDMS, Nynas AB
Thomas Norrby graduated in 1997 with a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry with a Thesis on Artificial Photosynthesis, from KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. Thomas Norrby has more than 20 years of experience from the Lubricants industry. His current position with Nynas AB is as Technical Manager and Senior Specialist for the application areas Lubricants, and for Tyre and Rubber process oils, at the Nynas Naphthenics Technical Development and Market Support division, which he joined in October 2014. His main tasks include Naphthenic base oil product development, lubricant and process oil application model studies and technical demonstrators, technical marketing, lecturing and presentations, in order to provide technical support and application advice to the Lubricants, and Tyre and Industrial Rubber industries.
Thomas Norrby also holds a chair as Adjunct Professor at KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden), at the Department of Machine Design. The focus of his industrial research is tribology and tribochemical investigations of base oils and lubricants, with focus on sustainability and life cycle aspect.
 

Joan Evans, Industry Liaison Manager, Infineum USA LP
Joan currently holds the position of Industry Liaison Leader Americas for Infineum USA LC, a petroleum additives enterprise that formulates, manufactures and markets of petroleum additives for the fuels and lubricants industry. She graduated from Virginia Tech with a BS in Chemical Engineering and began her 34 year career in the additives industry with Paramins, the additive division of Exxon Chemical Company in 1984. She joined Infineum (a 50/50 joint venture between ExxonMobil and Shell) upon its formation in 1999. Joan has held technical and supervisory positions in Manufacturing, Marketing, Finance, and Technology. In her current position, she represents Infineum on the American Petroleum Institute’s Lubricants Group and on the Petroleum Additives Panel and its associated Product Approval Protocol Task Group within the American Chemistry Council.

Alan Outhwaite, Global Business Development Manager, Base Oils, Chevron Base Oils
Alan has over 36 years’ experience in the lubricants industry on both the technical and commercial sides of the business. He joined Chevron International Oil Company, based in the UK in 1994 as a product engineer responsible for automotive and industrial lubricants, supporting Chevron’s developing business in Russia, CIS and East Europe. Following Chevron’s 2001 merger with Texaco, Alan moved to the commercial side of the business. In 2005 he joined Chevron’s Base Oil team as Business Development Manager, responsible for Chevron’s base oil strategy and product support in Europe, his role has now expanded to a global brief. Alan graduated with a B.Sc. in Chemistry and Geology and is qualified as a Chartered Chemist with the UK’s Royal Society of Chemistry. He has co-authored 2 patents, plus numerous industry papers and presentations.

Tim Nadasdi, Product Development Advisor, Basestocks & Specialties, ExxonMobil Fuels & Lubricants
In his role, Tim Nadasdi supports ExxonMobil’s differentiated base stock market offer with a focus in developing products with optimized properties to fit market needs. After receiving his Ph.D. in Chemistry in 1993, Tim conducted his postdoctoral research at Indiana University and Wayne State University. Following his postdoc, Tim began his career at Imperial Oil in its Industrial Lubricants business, serving as a formulator for finished lubricants and greases. In 2000, Tim joined ExxonMobil’s Research and Engineering (EMRE) team where he has played an integral role in the development of key products across various lines of business including Industrial, Marine, Aviation, Passenger and Commercial Vehicles and Basestocks and Specialties. Additionally, Tim has either led or been a core team member of several strategy studies over the last ten years across both EMRE and business, organization. Tim has been in his current role in Houston, TX since March 2019.

Mike McCabe, Global Marketing Director, The Lubrizol Corporation
Mike has been with Lubrizol since 1997 and currently leads Lubrizol’s global marketing group having previously led the company’s market insights and market research group. From 2010 to 2014 Mike led Lubrizol's marketing group in Asia Pacific, initially based in Beijing and later in Singapore. During his time in Asia he became involved with the ICIS Asia base oils conference; first as a speaker and more recently as a member of the organising committee. Previously he was a Regional Business Manager, based at Lubrizol's Hazelwood Technical Centre in the UK, and was responsible for the management of Lubrizol's European passenger car additive product line. Before joining Lubrizol, Mike worked at Castrol where he held a variety of roles ranging from product development to industry and OEM liaison. Mike has a degree in Physics from Reading University and a MBA from Nottingham University.
